We created this 'winner-winner-chicken-dinner' blend during the lockdown of 2020 when everyone was trying to create their own version of that beloved fried chicken at home. We didn't need to hide any of those secret ingredients, ('coz we don't use MSG) But with a dash of Kiwi ingenuity we’ve worked out how to add that famous umami flavour...by using freeze-dried ‘Quick Draw’ Fermented Slaw (kimchi powder) from our mates at Living Goodness. Starting with organic Marlborough kosher sea salt, we've blended smoky chipotle, cayenne, chilli flakes, sumac, lemon peel, tomato flakes, nutritional yeast, celery seeds and white pepper into something that tastes a bit like a dry hot sauce.

The nutritional yeast and tomato flakes create an umami bomb, while horopito and kawakawa add a distinctly Kiwi peppery finish you won't find in imported chilli salts.

It's hot, but not stupidly hot. Enough heat to know it's there, without overpowering the flavour.

Shake It, Sprinkle It, Cook With It

Brilliant on steak, eggs, avocado, chips and seafood, but it really comes alive when added during cooking.

Try The Firestarter BBQ Gift Set

Chilli Salt Bomb was created as a collaboration with Kaitaia Fire, New Zealand's original cayenne chilli sauce. The goal was to create a seasoned salt that shared the same flavour DNA and could stand proudly alongside the sauce.

The result was our Firestarter Kit BBQ Gift Set, pairing two distinctly NZ-made products built around flavour, heat and the classic Kiwi backyard BBQ. It's the perfect BBQ gift box for chilli lovers, hot sauce fans and anyone who likes their food with a bit more kick.
